CSR is the Basis of Sustained, Long-Term Growth
Since our founding in 1935, we have endeavored to fulfill our company philosophy of being a “company that materializes health and happiness of people.” Toward that end, we have consistently believed in the importance of not just pursuing business activities within the applicable laws and regulations but also carefully discerning the needs and expectations of society and responding to them through our business activities to offer new value.
A key factor in acting on that belief is the cumulative impact of the daily efforts of every one of our employees, who place great value on our relationships with stakeholders. Their actions in support of CSR initiatives result in growth for both the Company and themselves.
CSR initiatives are indispensable as a source of sustained, long-term growth for society and Nissui Pharmaceutical.
Nissui Pharmaceutical has established internal provisions regarding a whistleblower system. These provisions require officers and employees who become aware of an actual or possible legal or regulatory violation in the Company’s operations to immediately report it. A corporate ethics hotline enabling officers and employees to report questionable activity directly to internal and external contacts has been established. Information reported to the external contact is communicated to the Ethics Committee of Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. In principle, it is then communicated to the Company, where the Ethics Risk Management Committee makes decisions on how to respond to the reported information.
In addition, the Company has established an internal whistleblower contact that can be reached through an external channel. It also has its Ethics Risk Management Committee and has put in place provisions to protect whistleblowers.
To manage risks, the Company has established the Compliance Department and the Internal Control Department, and created a system for managing and preventing the realization of risks.
The Compliance Department has developed a code of conduct for officers and employees, and works to promote thorough understanding of it. The Internal Control Department conducts audits to determine whether financial reporting internal controls are properly functioning. It also monitors the condition of companywide internal controls and the propriety of business processes. The findings of audits and other work are reported to executive directors as needed.
The Company has developed a business continuity plan (BCP) to minimize the business impacts of realized risks from natural disasters and other sources, and continue business operations, or restore them as quickly as possible.
Nissui Pharmaceutical engages in compliance activities as part of its efforts to be a company that is trusted by customers, shareholders, and society at large.
Nissui Pharmaceutical makes clear to its employees that the demands of antisocial forces are not to be acceded to and that all relationships with antisocial forces are to be rejected.
Various compliance topics are incorporated in promotion- and job-level-related training, and in e-learning content. In addition, individual departments hold voluntary seminars and create other occasions to study compliance subjects.
